Baltic Orienteering Championships (28.05.2018)

Chose to skip Norwegian champs in street puzzle racing and travel to the wilderness of Latvia with Beech, Louise and Delphine. Terrain was absolutely fantastic and unlike anything else I have run in. Imagine a giant Scottish Spey valley forest, with more contour detail fewer paths better runnability and bizzre negative contours.

On the day was feeling a bit tired (after 2 long distance races in 2 weekends EOC and BOC). Also sampled some Latvian delicacy (French chop) which had pretty much destroyed my stomach.

Made a small mistake on 1 (looked easy but visability was low). Then quite a large routechoice error on 3. Aimed to hit paths to south of line but got pulled off along the steep slopes and had poor visulaisation and failed to get a good overview in the low visability.

Good section to 11. (Small miss on 9 with sloppy compass).

12: Firstly chose wrong routechoice, then executed it terribly. Amied to hit path between 1 and 2 but again lost contact in large negative features and got pulled off line.

12-finish. Really good, such beautiful forest and excellent map. Was knackered but really enjoying every step.
